Alhambra: Favorite Stop of Imperium

So now that I am finally in madrid, with stable wifi, I thought I could recap a little about my favorite Imperium Seminar spot. It was such an amazing experience to spend the first week and a half traveling Spain (with a stop in Portugal!). The itinerary for Imperium was: Cordoba, Granada, Sevilla, Lisboa, and finally, Madrid, where I will be for the remainder of this semester abroad.

Now to my favorite visit...

Alhambra!

Originally built in 898 as part of Al-Andalus Muslim Spain, the grounds have both a Muslim Palace and a Catholic church! The architecture is in the style of Mudejar, which is basically a fusion of Muslim, Christian, and Judaic influences. Since these three groups of people all co-existed in Spain, the sharing of culture led to the creation of this blended artistic style.
